CFO Gruppo Leonardo - Finmeccanica
Graduated in Business & Management, 1996
Alessandra Genco is the CFO of Leonardo, the Italian aerospace and defense company. She was previously Vice President Group Finance, in charge of capital markets, treasury, investments and insurance activities.
Prior to joining Leonardo, she spent seven years in the US where she worked in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs as Vice President in their New York Office.
She covered clients across numerous industries, including financial sponsors. She holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and a M.Sc. in Economics from Luiss Guido Carli University. She is on the board of various companies, in Europe and in the US. Strongly committed to the theme of diversity, she serves as mentor of talented young women.
After the first challenging year of studies in Rome, I took part in the prestigious Double Degree program with the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, where I had the opportunity to study with top scholars and to further expand my knowledge of economic policies with a European focus.
After my graduation, with a thesis awarded with honors, I entered the European Central Bank in the area of Banking Supervision, where I started as a trainee, and then became a Supervision Analyst, working on an interest research project about banks’ internal models. Needless to say, my Double Degree with Luiss and Solvay greatly helped me for my professional development in the ECB as it gave me an outstanding background about European economic policies and financial rules.
